What is a Nesting Party?
(...and Yes, You Should Definitely Have One)
Imagine this: a few close friends show up with helping hands, snacks, and maybe even a drill to get your home feeling ready before baby arrives.
The expectation at a nesting party isn’t that people bring gifts, it’s that they bring their hands, their time, their tools, and some casserole recipes. It's about love in action. It’s about being surrounded by people who are saying, “You don’t have to do this alone. We’re here. We’ll help.”

There are no registries, no matching napkins, no “oohing” over tiny onesies, though there might be if someone’s folding baby's laundry. It’s the kind of support that lingers long after the last curtain is put up.
A small circle of people comes together to help you get your space, your meals, and your heart ready for this next chapter. Think folding baby clothes, organizing the diaper station, prepping freezer meals, maybe even putting up that shelf you’ve been envisioning on the living room wall.
You can absolutely still have your baby shower with the full guest list; co-workers, great aunts, all the joyful chaos. But why not also carve out something smaller and more supportive…in a different way?
A nesting party isn’t meant to replace the celebration, it’s an added layer of support. Just a few people you trust, gathering with intention to help you feel a little more ready. You can plan it yourself or tap a close friend, sister, or neighbor to organize the day. In the end, it's less about presentation and more about presence.
I hadn’t heard of nesting parties when I was expecting- but after helping plan one for a good friend I realized just how deeply comforting and supportive (and productive!!) they can be. Many hands make light work. So much can get done in a few hours and the bonus is enjoying some good laughs and time with your close-knit crew.
So, if you’re preparing for baby (or know someone who is), consider the idea of a nesting party. It doesn’t have to be big. It just has to feel like the support that you need at the time. It's amazing how much lighter everything feels when your people show up and say, "Let’s do this together.”
